The public library in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota was built in 1913 with a $10,000 grant from Andrew Carnegie. It was built in the Prairie School style and featured stained glass windows, terra cotta panels, and a red-tiled roof.
The library has always been a cherished piece of Detroit Lakes. In fact, it’s still used as a public library. An addition was added to the rear in 1989, doubling the size of the library. You can find the beautiful library at the corner of Washington Avenue and Frazee Street.
